Frequently asked questions

What financial proof does a study permit need?

Commonly a GIC certificate, tuition payment receipt, and/or bank statements showing you can cover tuition and living costs, merged per requirement and under 4 MB each.

Is the Student Direct Stream (SDS) still available?

No. IRCC permanently closed the Student Direct Stream (SDS) and the Nigeria Student Express (NSE) on 8 November 2024. There is no longer a fast-track study permit stream, every applicant uses the standard process. A GIC and prepaid tuition are still useful financial evidence, they are simply no longer tied to a separate stream.
