Why IRCC wants one file per slot
Most upload fields only accept a single file. If you have six months of bank statements as six separate PDFs, they need to become one PDF before that checklist slot will accept them.
How to do it
- Gather every page or document that belongs to that checklist slot.
- Put them in a sensible order, chronological for statements, cover page first for an evidence package.
- Merge them into a single PDF.
- Check the result is under 4 MB, if it isn't, compress it before uploading.
Ordering tips
For financial documents, keep statements in date order, oldest first is the safest default unless your checklist specifies otherwise. For an evidence package (like a relationship or employment history), start with a short cover or index page so whoever reviews it knows what they're looking at before they get into the details.
Merge your documents now
Reorder files with one click, then download a single combined PDF.

Frequently asked questions
How many files can I upload per IRCC checklist slot?
Generally one, which is why multiple documents for the same requirement (six months of bank statements, several pay stubs) get merged into a single PDF first.
What order should merged documents be in?
Chronological or the order the checklist describes, with the most important document first, and page numbers if the file runs long.
